Mam wrażenie, że jego wieloletnia praca jako grafika w największej szwedzkiej agencji prasowej TT miała ważne znaczenie przy redagowaniu wydawnictwa.

I te grafiki wplecione w tekst książek – a to mapa karaibskiego archipelagu Grenadyn, a to plan miejscowości, w której głównie toczy się akcja jednego z tomów, a to prawie jakby z teczki śledczego wyjęty plan mieszkania, w którym dokonano jednego z morderstw. Niby nic – ale takie zapożyczenia z Agaty Christie czy Conan Doyla wydaje mi się komiczne. W pierwowzorach plany takie pomagały skołowanym Czytelnikom, natomiast tutaj odgrywają rolę grafiki w Wikipedii i wypełniacza strony. Gdyż same intrygi kryminalno psychologiczne są stosunkowo proste i rozkład wysepek na Karaibach niczego nie wnosi.

Oczywiście nie mam zamiaru opisywać lub streszczać fabuły. To tak na marginesie. Opisuję wyłącznie swoje „pretensje” do – nie wiadomo do kogo ani czego. Chyba do samego siebie, że się nabrałem na szeptaną propagandę.

Bo czytało mi się Millenium wspaniale. Do 2/3 części drugiej, gdy to nagle stwierdziłem, ze lektura mnie denerwuje. Pierwszą przyczyną mojego dyskomfortu była maniera Autora dosłownego informowania Czytelnika, że Autor coś wie, ale nie powie. Że to coś jest straszne, lecz Czytelnik nie jest jeszcze przygotowany na wskazanie Mu co takiego potwornego się zdarzyło w przeszłości. To nie fair.

A jak już wbito mi w pamięć po raz 14, żebym przygotował się na horror, Autor nagle, ni z gruszki ni z pietruszki, jakby chciał wynagrodzić swoją irytującą tajemniczość, wyjawia sprawców morderstw, chociaż spora grupa szwedzkich policjantów, prokuratorów i freelancerów nie zajmuje się niczym innym od tygodni. I co ? I nic – Czytelnik wie, lecz teraz musi czytać dalej, jak zdeterminowani myśliwi uparcie idą nie po właściwych tropach. No to Czytelnik jest lepszy – on wie.

Przerwałem czytanie. Zbuntowałem się i jak prawie zawsze krótko przeanalizowałem intrygi w tekście zawarte – mam spore zastrzeżenia, ale pozostawiam je domyślności innych Czytelników.

A tak ogólnie, to lektura jest wspaniała, pełna suspensów oraz wiadomości o modelach mebli Ikei, metrażach (skromnie !) i cenach mieszkań na wtórnym rynku Sztokholmu, zarobkach różnych grup zawodowych (dla ułatwienia kurs korony szwedzkiej do PLZ w styczniu 2000 wynosił około 2,06). Nadmieniam, że podobny zasób informacji zawierają także kryminały szwedzkiego tandemu Maj Sjöwall i Per Frederika Wahlöö.
